Exercise 3: birds, beasts and relatives

 

  1. Their spikes are soft like rubber when they are baby hedgehogs but they gradually harden as they get older, they also turn brown      

B. when they are a few weeks old they follow their mom out of the nursery to learn how to hunt for food

C. when they leave to go hunt their in a line with the mother in the front and the babies behind her with their tails in each of their mouths

D. hedgehogs are always ready to eat

E. when they are younger they don’t go far away for their nest

F. baby hedgehogs are born with their eyes closed

 

2. ‘Like four survivors from a raft’ they would be really hungry and thirsty

B. ‘When they are old enough to leave the nursery’ when a mom is ready to leave the hospital after giving birth she takes her baby way from the nursery  

C. baby usually referred to as human

D. ‘crawls across the floor with a curious swimming motion’ this helps me picture the hedgehogs crawling across the floor like human babies

 

3. He describes them as survivors from a wreck that have not had a decent meal in weeks

 

4. I think what he meant by that was that he tends to over feed them and they became over weight by dragging their bellies across the floor and that their legs could not hold their body weight
